About Organic Tomatoes

Organic Tomatoes from Real Foods. Although tomatoes are fruits in a botanical sense, they don't have the dessert quality sweetness of other fruits. Instead they have a subtle sweetness that is complemented by a slightly bitter and acidic taste. Cooking tempers the acid and bitter qualities in tomatoes and brings out their warm, rich, sweetness. We source our tomatoes from a variety of places (usually the EU), if you would like to know the country of origin for our latest delivery do contact us and we'll be happy to let you know.

Tomatoes are an excellent source of vitamins C and A, and vitamin K. They're home to the brilliant antioxidant lycopene and useful for maintaining heart health, reducing your risk of some cancers and help keep your blood vessels supple. For more information on the nutrition and all of the other tomatoes available have a look at our guide to tomatoes here.

Customer reviews

These organic tomatoes definitely have a much fuller flavour than the non organic ones. They make a very tasty addition to any salad and to most sandwiches too.

Thai Bean Burgers Sweet Potato Curls and Chilli Tomato Jam

Summary: For an alternative to the traditional Valentines dinner out, take your beloved's taste buds on a holiday to exotic Thailand with these vegan and gluten-free bean burgers coupled with a chilli and tomato jam, both flavoured with Thai spices. Serve with lovely oven-baked sweet potato curly fries, to let them know how sweet they are. You can also make these on any day of the year, not just on Valentines Day, of course. I like to make them with black beans for their high content of antioxidant and anti-inflammatory phytonutrients, you can use adzuki beans, chickpeas or even cannellini or butter beans. It might seam like a lot of instructions, but please don't let that put you off, as every step is very straight forward.

Summary: Chickpeas, like all pulses, are high in fibre and protein, making them an all-round health food. Just one cup of cooked chickpeas provide us with half our recommended daily fibre intake. They are also a good source of phytoestrogens. Don't be fooled by how easy this salad is to put together, it is really delicious and very filling.

Raw Vegan Indian Sprouted Mung Bean Salad Recipe

Summary: Sprouts truly are a powerhouse of nutrition, as the nutritional content is exponentially multiplied when you sprout a seed or a grain. Mung beans (also spelled Moong Beans) are one of the easiest to sprout, so this Raw Vegan Sprouted Mung Bean Salad is a great place to start to include more sprouts in your diet. This salad is very popular in India, where is it eaten raw or stir fried in a little oil. Serve on its own for a healthy savoury snack, or as a side dish for an Indian curry.
