About Wild Sea Aster
Wild foraged Sea Aster. Sea Aster is a sea vegetable (similar to Samphire) and has a light, delicate, almost succulent flavour. They can be eaten raw or cooked lightly (treat them the same way you would spinach). They take a few minutes to steam cook or sauté and are delicious served with a little butter and garlic.
Sea Aster grow in salt marshes, estuaries and occasionally on cliffs in the UK. Asters are also known as Michaelmas daisies due to their late flowering period. Sea Asters particularly are a valuable source of nectar for late butterflies like the Red Admiral.
