Vegetarian Seven Layer Dip

500g TVP mince, rehydrated More products
1 1/2 tsp chili powder More products
1 tsp onion powder
1 x 4 ounce can chopped green chillies (or fresh to taste)
1 x 16 ounce can pinto refried beans
3/4 cup hot salsa More products
3/4 cup mild salsa OR Available only in our Edinburgh shops More products
2 cups reduced-fat shredded cheese
1 cup fat-free sour cream
1/3 cup chopped green onions

Method

  • Crumble the TVP into a large bowl.
  • Add chilli powder and onion powder. Set aside.
  • In a 13 X 9 X 2 baking dish coated with olive oil, layer the beans, TVP mixture, green chilies, taco sauce, and 1 1/2 cup cheese.
  • Cover and bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes or until cheese melts and bubbles around the edges.
  • Cool for five minutes.
  • Spread sour cream on top; sprinkle with green onions and remaining cheese.
